What is it like? A Barbera has many expressions, but they keep their characteristics of having good acidity and mild tannins. Barbera d’Alba tends to be slightly stronger in structure, and when it is a Superiore it has gone through more ageing. This “la Lena” is a smooth profile and a medium body, with a slightly vanilla or sweet winter spice flavour to make it very approachable. It can go with most Chinese meat roast (e.g. cha siu) and also a casual meal of pasta.
What is it like? Only less than 20 producers can use this Alta Langa DOCG which denotes sparkling white made in the same method as Champagne. Made from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir (Nero), this sparkling Brut has a floral and hint of bread crust in the nose, a refined foam that is gentle on the palate, and white fresh peach in flavour.
Keep in the fridge at least 2 hours before serving.
